Hymon Legate

Funeral service for Hymon H.Legate, age 88 of Clarksville, will be Monday, April 10, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Stewart Salyer will officiate. Burial will follow in the Sango Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 09, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Sykes Funeral Home and then on Monday, April 10, 2017 from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM at the church.

Hymon  passed away on Friday, April 07, 2017 at Tennova Healthcare. He was born on August 27, 1928 in Stewart Co., TN to Hilary T. and Irene (Atkins) Legate. He served in the Army during the Korean War and also a active member of Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and working with horses. He loved playing his harmonica and dancing. He was a machinist at the Mason and Hughes clothing factory.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife; Flora Belle (Smith) Legate, sisters; Eva West and Alma Heatherly.

He is survived by his son, Donnie (Terri) Legate; daughter, Beverly (Craig) Tyre; brother, Russell (Joan) Legate; sisters, Louise (Cecil) Hoffman, and Florence Marion; grandchildren, Ashlee (John) Gagliano, Adam York, and Landon Legate, great-grandchildren, Greer and Miller Gagliano; and best friend of twenty years, Ruth McGee.

Pallbearers include Johnny Legate, Adam York, Landon Legate, John Gagliano, Russ Hamilton and Charles Cook. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Davidson, W.L. Smith and the Senior Adult Class at Bethel C.P. Church.
