Hugh Bradley Shoulders, Sr, age 91, of Gallatin,TN passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by his family on July 11, 2024. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024 , at 11:00AM at McFerrin Missionary Baptist Church, 431 W Old Hickory Blvd., Madison, TN with Bro. Kenneth Massey, Bro. Johnny Carver, and Bro. Jeremy Sisk officiating. Burial will follow at Sumner Memorial Gardens, 420 Albert Gallatin Avenue, Gallatin, TN. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at the church from 2:00 PM- 5:00 PM and again at the church on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
Hugh was a graduate of Smith County High in Carthage, TN and Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, TN. After graduating from college in 1955, he spent two years in the U.S. Army Signal
Corps. He worked for the IBM Corporation for 35 years, retiring in 1992. Hugh has been a member of McFerrin Missionary Baptist Church since 1961. In 1958, Hugh married June Boze Shoulders and remained so until her death in 1985. They were parents to three children, Angie Inman (Todd), Carla Petitt (Floyd), and Hugh Bradley Jr (Patty) all who survive him.
Hugh is also survived by his wife, Lynn Spence Shoulders, who he married in 1988, stepdaughter, Angela Bolick (Mark) and stepson Neil Spence, grandchildren: Sarah Spence, Matthew Spence, Nancy June Damer (Chase), Kaitlin Bolick, Will Powell, Zach Petitt (Kaylee),Margaret Sauers (Jackson), Dylan Shoulders, Luke Petitt, and Griffin Shoulders and great grandson, Beau Bradley Damer. Hugh is preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie and Flora W Shoulders, brothers Albert W Shoulders, Alec Shoulders, Robbie Shoulders, and Virgil Shoulders and sisters Katherine Whitley, Louise Woodard, Sue Putney Drick and Laura Gregory.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Spence, Will Powell, Zach Petitt, Dylan Shoulders, Luke Petitt, Griffin Shoulders, Chase Damer, and Jackson Sauers. Honorary pallbearer is Tommy Jellicourse.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
