Horace Taylor

Horace Douglas Taylor, age 86, of Clarksville passed away Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Gateway Medical Center. Sykes Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Visitation wll be on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Sykes Funeral Home.   Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev. Mickey Rachaud and Rev. Dorothy Hartzog officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
He was born November 30,1925 in Clarksville, TN to the late James Walter Taylor, Sr. and Nellie Moore Taylor. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marie Carneal Taylor; two brothers, Whitfield Moore Taylor, and James Walter Taylor, Jr.; and sister, Louise Taylor.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his children; daughter, Denise Louise Rager and son, Robert Douglas Taylor; grandchildren, James Evans and Joshua Rager; and Great-Granddaughter, Natalie Marie Evans.
Mr. Taylor attended Howell Grammar School, Clarksville High School (Class of 1943) and Austin Peay State University. He proudly served our country in the US Marine Corp during WWII. He married Marie Carneal on April 14, 1954 and enjoyed 55 years of marriage. Horace had a favorite saying,"God gave me a wonderful wife, a great family and friends, and an abundant life! What more could I have asked for?"
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Taylor, Jerry Rager, Jim King, Garrett Hunt, Jamie Evans, Dean Vick, Joshua Rager and Chris Proctor.
