Hershel Lee Basham, Jr.

A Celebration of Life service for Hershel Lee Basham, Jr., 94, will be Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Sykes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.

Hershel was born on May 26, 1930 in Clarksville, TN to Hershel and Mattie Basham, Sr. He passed away on June 14, 2024. Hershel served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954 during the Korean War. He enjoyed spending time working outdoors on his farm and watching football. Hershel was a proud member of the Clarksville High School Class of 1949, where he played football. He was a truck driver for Frosty Morn and then for Beach Oil Company, where he retired. Hershel was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Norman Basham and son-in-law, Lynn Lamb. Hershel is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Mary, children, Hershel (Lynda) Basham III, Sarah (Don) Morgan, and Susan Lamb, grandchildren, Don (Kiley) Morgan, Jr. and Lance (Kayla) Morgan, and great- grandchildren, Owen and Hank Morgan and Bridger and Miles Morgan.
