Henry Gordon Harris, 92, Clarksville, died Saturday, January 2, 2010, at his home. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Eades officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday and from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Harris was born November 22, 1917 in Montgomery County, TN son of the late Gordon Harris and Letha Smith Harris. In addition to his parents Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his first wife Aletha Meredith Harris, his son; Mack Spry and sisters; Wilmouth Harris, Lucille Harris, Marjorie Stevenson and Robbie Marshall. Mr. Harris was a surveyor, a farmer, and also a clerk at Hadley Brothers John Deere Tractor Store. He was a faithful member and deacon emeritus at Northeast Baptist Church. Henry loved the Lord, his family and the land. He spent his time reading the Bible and helping others. He enjoyed taking care of animals and sewing items to give as gifts. He was a historian who loved to tell stories and clean jokes. He will be greatly missed but we who know the Lord will see him again. He would want you all to know Jesus. Mr. Harris is survived by his wife Jessie Ruth Rogers Harris, daughters Goldie (Robert) Newcomb, Wanda (Ardell) Lawrence, Frances Ann Bush and daughter-in-law Frances Spry. Pallbearers will be his nephews Macon Marshall, John O. Stevenson, John Thomas, Gerald Barnett and son-in-law Robert Newcomb and grandson-in-law Eddie Boyd. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons; Allen Spry, Michael Lawrence, Jesse Lawrence, Johnny Sisk, Chris Bush and Waylon Cowan. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Northeast Baptist Church or any charity of your choice in Mr. Harris' memory.
