Harold Eugene Sturdivant, 62, Elizabethtown, KY, died Monday, March 29, 2010, at his home. The funeral will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday April 6, 2010 at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel with Joel Worley officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday April 5 at the funeral home.
Mr. Sturdivant was born July 28, 1947, in Logansport, IN, son of the late Alva Anderson Sturdivant and Mary Gladys Powell. He was preceded in death by a sister Margaret Farrell, and half-sisters Maxine Grogg and Leona Bailey. Harold graduated Logansport High School in 1965, and received his B.S. from Chaminade University, Honolulu, HI in 1979. He married Chong Yong Hui Dec. 10, 1965, she passed away Aug. 5, 1999, and on June 22, 2002 he married Diane Duff Morgan. He enlisted in the U.S. Army 1966, and retired as SFC in 1986. Harold spent most of his Army Career in Counter-Intelligence. He was awarded the Bronze Star for service in Vietnam. Other duty stations were Korea, Alaska, Hawaii, Fort Sheridan in Chicago, Johnson Island in the Pacific and Germany. Mr. Sturdivant retired from Civil Service as an Intelligence Security Specialist with the Dept. of Defense in Dec. 2008. He was a member of Centreville Baptist, Centreville,VA. Harold enjoyed travel, sudoku and crystoquote puzzles, spending time with family and being called "grandpa".
Survivors include his wife Diane Duff Morgan, daughter Marlena Sturdivant, Spring Hill, TN, son William Sturdivant, Clarksville, grandson Corbin Winters, granddaughters Drew Sturdivant, Abigail Sturdivant, step-son Barry Morgan, Orono, MA, brother Jim Sturdivant, Logansport, IN, sisters Josephine Cunningham, St. Louis, MO, Doris Ruse, Indianapolis, IN and Lena Tibbits, Hollywood, FL. www.sykesfuneralhome.com
