Greg Devers

Gregory Frank Devers was born in Clarksville, TN on a Thursday; September 19, 1968. Greg spent his childhood doing all the things kids used to do with their time before computers and cell phones. He played outside in the dirt, rode bikes, and often put himself in dangerous situations because that’s just what kids did back then.

As he grew, he learned he didn’t really like to read, and he didn’t like school. He learned the value of work at a young age, and he carried his work ethic with him his entire life.

In his 20’s he went to church and learned about Jesus Christ. It was then that he began to grow in his faith in the Lord. Although he hated to read, he read the Bible every single day and would say it’s the only book he ever read, and he didn’t mind reading it over and over again.

It was also in his 20’s that he began working for Bridgestone Metalpha. He was a maintenance man and dedicated 28 years of his life working there. He was good at working with his hands and could pretty much fix or build anything. He believed his abilities were a gift given to him by God and he used it as a basis for living his life according to his beliefs. He was a generous, kind, compassionate man who helped anyone who needed it. He was quiet and gentle, but most of all he was faithful. He loved the Lord with all his heart, and he prayed others could see the Lord through him.

Less than a month before he passed, he was astounded to find out he had a very aggressive form of cancer in his lungs. This diagnosis caught him by surprise, but it only strengthened his faith, and he spent the next three and a half weeks of his life telling anyone who would listen that he was excited about going on to be with the Lord for all eternity. He left this world the same way he lived, quietly and peacefully on a Thursday, April 3, 2025 at the age of 56.

A Celebration of Life service will be Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Sykes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the hour of service.
