She was born March 1, 1938 in Lake, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Norman McCoy and Annie Mae Phillips McCoy, her sister, Doris Delane McCree and brothers, John Wilford McCoy and Herbert Reginald McCoy. She is survived by her brother, John (Joe) Norman McCoy, her two daughters, Robyn Denise Horsewood and Julianne Curtis. She was a wonderful "Nana" who adored her five grandchildren and her eight great-grandchildren.
Glenda Spent most of her life in Waco, Texas and graduated from Waco High School in 1955. Her favorite flower was the bluebonnet which grows wild along the roads of Texas. She was a true Texan but came to Tennessee to be with her children and grandchildren which she loved even more.
Glenda was a devout Christian who was a long time member of the Robinson Church of Christ in Waco. TX. Once moving to Clarksville, she was a member of the Madison Street Church of Christ. She later became a member of the Midway Church of Christ in Charlotte after moving "to the country" as the great grandchildren often refer to Cumberland Furnace. In turn, sharing her love and making friends everywhere she went. She had a wonderful smile that could warm any heart and she truly loved her family and friends. She was active in her church and when she was able, she spent time volunteering to aid the less fortunate.
Glenda was a published author of a book titled "Rainbow in the Storm" and she enjoyed writing short stories.
She spent time crocheting baby blankets, scarves, hats, baby shoes and stuffed animals that were usually given away as gifts.
Glenda enjoyed trying new recipes, cooking and eating out with friends. She had perfected her stuffing, chicken salad and anyone who had not tried her lemon cake surely missed out on a treat.
She liked getting together with friends and family and was always happy for a game of Pinochle or Dominoes.
In her later years, Glenda enjoyed sitting on the front porch in her swing watching the cows, chickens, hummingbirds and "her" little blue bird.
She often commented on the wonderful creations of God. The leaves changing colors in Autumn, white fluffy clouds in the sky, the beauty of spring flowers and she enjoyed watching a sunrise, or a good lightning storm.
Glenda's heart was filled with love for many things and so many people. Those who were fortunate enough to know her were truly blessed. She will be missed.
Glenda's favorite Scripture: I Corinthians 13:13:
"But now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; and the greatest of these is love."
