Gilbert Baggett, 86 of Cumberland Furnace passed away Nov 7, 2011 at Spring Meadows Nursing Home. Funeral service will be Thursday 11:00 a.m. at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev David Mackens officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Harvey Cemetery. Arrangements by Sykes Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc.
Mr. Baggett was born April 15, 1925 in Montgomery County to the late Al and Aletha Schmittou Baggett. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Mr. Baggett was a mechanic, retired from Jenkins & Wynne, and served in the US Navy.
He is survived by his wife Gladys Mae Grant Baggett, a daughter Carolyn (Billy Joe) Mayfield and his sister Margaret Roark. His grandchildren are Jody Mayfield and Heather McIntyre; great grandchildren Austin and Maykala Mayfield, and Kristen and Gabriel McIntyre.
