Geraldine Fay Purser Blemker

It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of Geraldine Fay Purser Blemker, she went to be with the Lord on April 3, 2025, surrounded by family and the warmth of cherished memories. She lived a life full of love, kindness and unwavering strength, touching the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born on September 21, 1928, Fay, grew up in Watertown New York. She hated that place. Throughout her life, she was known for her compassion, kindness, loyalty, generosity, fairness and always putting others before herself. Fay lived with her children in Clarksville, Tennessee, until 1972, then moved to Dallas, Texas, where she worked for the Social Security Administration, she retired and moved to Deerfield Beach, Florida and then again in Clarksville TN from 2014 to 2025.

Fay is preceded in death by her parents Frank Longtin and Roxie Sweeney, her husband James Leavell Purser and husband Howard Matthew Blemker, her brother Lyle Longtin and her grandson James Laney Hodges.

Fay is survived by children: Cheryl VanSickle (Mark), Cindy Chester (Bobby) Dane Purser (Selena) and Diane Griffith (Gary).

Fay has 10 grandchildren. Amy Painter (Chris), Jamie Best (Daniel), Josh Purser (Sarah), Courtney VanSickle, Dusty Svoboda (Jimmy), Allison VanSickle, Charity Pride (Tyler), Mandy Stroud (Michael), the late Laney Hodges and Jordan Purser (Reina). Fay also leaves behind 23 great grandchildren who will carry on her legacy of love and compassion. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will forever live on in the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the memories we will forever cherish.

A private ceremony for Fay will be at Fort Donelson National Cemetery in Dover, Tennessee and at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg Indiana at a later date.
