Funeral Service for Georgia Marie Balthrop, age 95 will be Sunday, December 3, 2017 at 1:30 PM at Sykes Funeral Home. Bro. Mike Madewell and Bro. Jim Hefley will be officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Sunday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Little Hope Cemetery.
Georgia transitioned peacefully surrounded by her children on November 28, 2017 at Signature Health Care. She was born in Montgomery County, to George W. and Nonie Baggett Bryant. She married Ray Denzil Balthrop on January 31, 1948. She was an active member of Little Hope (now Living Hope) Baptist Church for over 55 years. Georgia enjoyed sewing and quilting as the owner of Granny's Quilts. She was retired from Acme Boot Company.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband as well as 12 brothers and sisters: Lucy Bryant, Alex Bryant, Cullen Bryant, Fredonia Mayfield, Becky McWhorter, Joe Bryant, Lizzie Wall, Dottie Shelton, Evie Mae Smith, Curnel Bryant, Paul Bryant, and Charlie Bryant.
Mrs. Balthrop is survived by four children: Jeraldine (John) Evans, Anita (Billy) Holt, Rick (Shelly) Balthrop, and Connie (David) Mathews; nine grandsons: Rob (Kerri) Evans, Shane (Nikki) Evans, Jeremy (Anissa) Holt, Eric (Heather) Holt, Sam (Brandy) Balthrop, Charlie (Elizabeth) Balthrop, Jake (Laurèn) Mathews, Jed and Joe Mathews; and one granddaughter, Kelly (Timothy) Head, eleven great-grandchildren: Cameron, Caleb, Luke, Charlie, Tinsley, Addy, Ellie, Nolan, Stella, Wyatt, and Henry, one sister-in-law, Sarah Ann Bryant and multiple nieces and nephews.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of SHC of Clarksville for their kindness and love for Georgia.
