George Kazuo Nishimura, 96, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Monday November 18, 2019, at the Tennessee State Veteran’s Home.
George was a retired cartographer of the Defense Mapping Agency and U.S. Army Veteran with the 442nd Regimental Combat Team Military Intelligence Service, having served in WWII as an interpreter in the Pacific theater. He was a recipient of the Congressional Gold Medal for his service during WWII.
George was born on February 25, 1923, in Punaluu Hawaii to the late Otokichi Nishimura and Maju Nishimura. George is survived by his sons, James Nishimura (Lisabeth Medlock), David Nishimura (Alisa), and Douglas Nishimura (Sunny Gilbert); daughters, Emiko LeJeune (Beau) and Jo Ann Majdecki (Steven); and 12 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7th for family and friends at the home of Beau and Emiko LeJeune.
