Frances (McEvilly) von Duyke, of Clarksville, TN, left us to be with our Lord on July 17, 2024 at Brookdale Senior Living in Clarksville at the age of 94.
Frances was born of British descent in Belgium on January 21, 1930, daughter of the late Thomas and Henriette (VanHulle) McEvilly.
Frances is survived by her grandson, Kevin Bayart of Brussels, Belgium, two nieces, Carol Menard, Clarksville, TN, and Pat (Andy) Uhazie of Iron Mountain, Michigan, and one nephew, John McEvilly of Brussels Belgium. She is also survived by her great-nephew John-John (Enid) McEvilly of Schaumburg Illinois, along with 4 great nephews, a great niece and other extended family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Morton von Duyke, a son Patrick Bayart, her brother Anthony McEvilly and sister Trudy Goodreau.
Frances spent most of her life living in Europe. where she worked for RFE (Radio Free Europe) and UPI (United Press International). She and her husband Mort moved to the United States in 1981. Frances loved to spend time outside in the garden of her Virginia home with her dogs, who she just adored, and enjoyed traveling and reading. She had many memories of living through WWII as a young girl and often told how they had to flee Belgium when the Germans invaded, leaving all their belongings behind. Frances loved socializing in her younger years and was always the life of the party. She will be sadly missed by all her family.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
Please visit Frances' online guestbook at www.sykesfuneralhome.com and share a memory with the family.
