Elsie May Toler

A Celebration of Life service for Elsie May (Austin) Toler, age 78, of Woodlawn, TN, will be Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at Sykes Funeral Home with Pastor Shaun Trescott officiating. Burial will follow at Sunnyview Baptist Church Cemetery where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Herschel Toler. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 3, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Tuesday from 11:30 AM until the time of service.

Elsie was born on June 11, 1946, in Indian Mound, TN, to John and Mary Austin. She passed away at her residence on January 29, 2025, while surrounded by her loving family. Elsie and her late husband Herschel ran a productive farm in Woodlawn, TN, for over 50 years. Elsie continued her passion for farming while driving a bus for the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System for over 20 years. She was an independent and hardworking woman as well as a faithful member of Sunnyview Baptist Church surpassing 50 years of membership. She may not have been sure about the price of cattle from week to week, but she was always sure of salvation in Jesus Christ and would be glad to tell you about Him.

Elsie is survived by her daughters, Jennifer (J.R.) Camien and Teresa (David) Smith; her grandchildren, Jared Toler, Adam Smith, M. Rachel Todd, Olivia Smith, Tonya Camien (deceased), John Camien, Shaina (Jordan) Gold, and Jillian (Colin) Watts; as well as her great-grandchildren, Jacob Martin, Tray Smith, Herschel Todd, Jayden Gibson, Zoey Todd, Layla Gibson, Isaac Watts, and Greyson Toler. She leaves behind five brothers: Marvin Austin, Larry (Kay) Austin, Gary 'Bill' (Marissa) Austin, all from Clarksville, TN, as well as Roger Austin of Belgrade, Nebraska, and James Austin of Donnellson, Illinois. Elsie was preceded in death by brothers Joseph A. Austin, Lester Austin, and Kenneth Austin. Elsie also leaves behind one surviving sister, Shirley Smart of Clarksville, TN, and is preceded in death by sisters L. Francis Williams, Jewell Barnhart, V. Polly Wills, and Lois Lupardus.
