Ella Martin Frye age 82, of Clarksville passed away Sunday, May 19 2013 at Grace Health Care. Sykes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Funeral service 2:00 pm will be Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Roger Freeman will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 23, 2013 from 10:00 am until the hour of service at Sykes Funeral Home.
Mrs. Frye was born on August 12, 1930 in Richard City, TN to the late William E. Martin Sr. and Flossie Burnett Martin. She was a member of First Baptist Church Clarksville, a member of the Tennessee Educators Association, a member of White Shrine, and the Gideon Auxiliary. Mrs. Frye attended MTSU and graduated with a degree from APSU. She taught the majority of her career at Cumberland Heights Elementary and retired from the Montgomery County School System.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Frye was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Mr. Johnny Frye, their daughter, Susan Frye Jackson and brother William E. Martin Jr..
Mrs. Frye is survived by her son, Bill Frye of Shreveport, LA; sister, Betty Cooper; brother, Tolly Martin; Granddaughter, Leslie Frye (Missy) Ben Yehoshua of Atlanta, GA; Grandson, SFC William Daniel Frye currently serving in Afganistan; Granddaughter, Candace King Wilkerson of Greenbriar, TN; Great-Grandchildren, Dakota, Scotty, Presley, Ryan and Liam.
