Elisabeth "Liz" (Furtner) Doyle, age 81 of Clarksville, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017 while on vacation in Seattle, Washington. A memorial service will be held in Clarksville at Sykes Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 2:00 pm with visitation beginning at 12:00 pm.
Mrs. Doyle was born February 15, 1936 in Stuttgart, Germany to the late Anton Furtner and Anna Luise Gunther. She became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1963. She had a passion for travel and discovery. One of her favorite places to visit was Scotland. She traveled there many times.
She was an award-winning dog trainer as well as a handler and breeder. Liz became a licensed handler with the American Kennel Club in the early 1960’s. She was a founding member and was later made a life member of the Clarksville Kennel Club. She worked with German Shepherds, Collies, Shelties and Papillon’s.
She is predeceased by her husband of 57 years, David "Ted" Doyle. She is survived by her sons: David A. (Tammy) Doyle, Robert A. (Beth) Doyle; daughter: Elizabeth A. (James) Patten; grandchildren: E. Nichole (Nathaniel) Melendez and Joshua C. Jensen; great grandson: Cole Melendez.
