Eleanor Marriott Matheny, 78, Clarksville, died Saturday, December 20, 2008, at her residence. The funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel with Ward Carver officiating. Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm Monday at the funeral home. Sykes Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Matheny was born May 13, 1930 in Chicago, IL, daughter of the late Charles Marriott and Amy Jackson Marriott. In addition to her parents Mrs. Matheny was preceded in death by her husband SGM Wilbert Matheny and a grandson Jeremy Matthews. Mrs. Matheny was a retired retail supervisor with the Post Exchange. Mrs. Matheny is survived by sons Leonard (Lea) Matheny of Owensboro, KY; Richard (Thuy) Matheny of Clarksville, Roger (Lesa) Matheny of Palmyra, TN; daughters Lora (Bruce) Anderson, of Savannah, GA, Linda (Michael) Bible, of Hendersonville, TN, Darlene (Allan) Matthews of Clarksville; brother Herbert Jacobs of Morgantown, WV; 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation in Mrs. Matheny's memory.
