Funeral service for Douglas "Gene" Bumpus, age 81 of Clarksville, will be Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Sykes Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 09, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Tuesday May 10, 2016 from 11:00 am until 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
Gene passed away on Sunday, May 08, 2016 at Grace Health Care. He was born on Aug 06, 1934 in Southside, TN to James and Angeline Bumpus.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, James Bumpus.
He is survived by his loving wife, Freeda of 62 years, and his sons; Douglas ( Debbie) Bumpus, Darrell (Susan) Bumpus, brother, Charles Bumpus, grandchildren; Bryan Bumpus, Lisa Dominiak, and Amanda Wyatt, Great-grandchildren; Devon, Javier, and Libby.
Gene's greatest joy was singing Southern Gospel music. He sang with The Southside Quartet,The Chapel Airs, The Harmony Boys, The Erin Quartet.
