Dottie Marie Black Hooten, 82, Clarksville, died Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at Montgomery Care & Rehab. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Byron Dumas officiating. Burial will be in Harvey Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Sykes Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Hooten was born January 25, 1929 in Montgomery County, daughter of the late Staton and Mable Huggins Black. She was preceded in death by her husband James R. Hooten, her daughter Brenda Vanderloop, brother Norman Black and a sister Nancy Stevens. Mrs. Hooten was a homemaker. She is survived by three children, James W. Hooten, Clarksville; Kathy Heckman of Vero Beach, FL; and Wanda Cunningham of Clarksville. Other survivors include a brother Robert F. Black of Clarksville, sisters Opal Gamblin, Clarksville and Robbie Sue Tuttle of Murfreesboro. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
