Dorothy `Joyce` Swift Jones, 76, Cunningham, died Monday, June 21, 2010, at her home. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Martha's Chapel Methodist Church with Brother Charles Welchance officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the church. The remains are to be cremated.
Dorothy Joyce Swift Jones, born January 25, 1934, in Montgomery County TN to Walter B. Swift and Dorothy Scott Swift. She was the youngest of eight children. She graduated from Montgomery Central High School, Class of 1951. She Married Bobby Jones on January 30, 1953, at Martha's Chapel Methodist Church, at which she became a very active lifetime member. This union was blessed with four children, David Jones (Randall) Charlotte, NC, Barry Jones (Penny) Cunningham, TN, Bobby Jones (Sandy) Gresham, ORE, Mary Beth Sleigh (Ron) Clarksville, TN. Ten grandchildren all a blessing to her, Andrew Jones, Nathan Jones, Conor Jones, Henry Jones, Sarah Jones, Daniel Jones, Rachel Jones, Caitlin Jones, Graham Sleigh, Kayla Morgan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters Ruby Murphy, Nannie Yates, Lura Robinson, and by four brothers Garner Swift, George Swift Harlon Swift, Dewey Swift. She is survived by her loving husband of more than fifty-seven years, many friends and neighbors and two special friends and caregivers, Margaret Williams and Mattie Tanner.
