Dorothy Mae Smith Ellison, 88, Clarksville passed away Friday, April 1, 2011 at Grace Healthcare. The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Len Scott officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation is 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service Tuesday at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Ellison was born May 9, 1922 in Windham, West Virginia daughter of the late Jefferson Davis Smith and Florence Cook Smith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Luther Ellison, Sr., a son, Luther "Buck" Ellison, Jr., a grandson; Brandon Kerr, sisters; Alma, Ellen, Grace, Bess, Ethel and Dorothy Smith as well as thirteen older siblings. Mrs. Ellison was a homemaker and attended Pardue Memorial Baptist Church, she loved cooking, canning and loved to embroider. Mrs. Ellison is survived by her daughter; Anita L. Ellison, Clarksville, grandchildren; Yvette (Terry) Dailey, Tim (Ann) Ellison, Allison (Rex) Clinard, Kyle Ellison and Luke (Belinda) Richmond, five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, her very special friends for more than 75 years; Aldeen Brown, Ina Cook and Iris Cook. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pardue Memorial Baptist Church or the Lymphoma Association.
