A Celebration of Life for Doris Louise (Arebaugh) Ross of Clarksville, TN, will be on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 3:00 PM. Garrette Milliken will officiate. Doris, surrounded by her family, went to be with her Lord on June 6, 2018.
Doris was born in Brooklyn, NY, on August 24, 1932. She married Mearl Dean Ross (Doc) on February 18, 1953. Mr. Ross served with the U.S. Army 24th Infantry Division, and together remained a part of the military which led to their many travels and places they called home; however, California became their primary residence for many years. While living in Alaska in 1955, Doris had a radio talk show on the military base, and her love of the entertainment industry was born. She then went on to receive many acting/service awards in Europe during her husband’s assignment in Germany. Doris loved being involved in her community and helped to establish the Horizon Players community theater in Simi Valley, Calif. She was very involved with The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, where she enjoyed being Mother Advisor to many. Her love of acting led her to become a very well-known Talent Agent in Hollywood, California for over 20 years, where she specialized in child actors. Doris and her husband moved to Clarksville in 1994. Doris continued to be involved in the local community theater until they decided to move to Satellite Beach, Florida to retire. After her husband’s passing in 2004, Doris decided to move back to Clarksville. As a cancer survivor, she battled illnesses for many years and has remained incapacitated for the last 4 years. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her grandson, Jeremy (Peepers).
Doris is survived by her sons, Richard D. Ross of Clarksville, and Darryl G. Ross of California. Daughters Debra L. Ross ( Luis) Zamora, Cheryl F. Ross, Cindy A. Ross (Curtis) Wardwell of Clarksville, and Lisa H. Ross ( Sean) Tousseau of California, 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to Tennessee Hospice for their compassion and care over the last 2 years. Words cannot express our gratitude. The family requests that friend wear pink in honor of Doris.
