Doffie Claxton

Funeral service for Doffie Claxton, age 92 of Clarksville, will be Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Sykes Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and again on Wednesday from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Doffie passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Tennova Healthcare. He was born on January 28, 1924 in Montgomery County, TN to Willie and Della Claxton. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of fifty-six years, Lucille Claxton. Doffie served in the United States Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal and numerous other medals. He was a member of the Mason McAlister Lodge and retired from the Civil Service. He was also a member of First Baptist Church. He is survived by his son, Steve (Pam) Claxton, brother, Ewing Claxton, sister, Dot Hutcheson, grandchildren; Wes Claxton and Emma Claxton and many nieces and nephews.
