SSG (Ret) Derward Francis McKinney, Jr., 55, Clarksville, died Monday, October 25, 2010, at his home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. til the hour of service Saturday at the funeral home. Sykes Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. SSG McKinney was born October 9, 1955 in Panama, son of Derward F. McKinney, Sr. and Patricia Piatt McKinney. SSG McKinney retired from the US Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was a restaurant manager and night desk clerk at the Winner's Circle Motel. SSG McKinney is survived by his wife Simone Marie McCullum McKinney of Clarksville, brother; Joseph McKinney, and sisters; Elena Clark, Dana Dorton, and Sharon McKinney. www.sykesfuneralhome.com
