CW3 Ernest Norman Hambly, ARMY (Ret.)

Ernest Norman Hambly, age 82 of Clarksville, TN, died Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN.

Ernie was retired from the Army after 26 years as a Cobra Helicopter pilot, he also retired from Trane Co and from driving a Montgomery County school bus.  He was an active member of the Memory Lane Cruisers until the day he passed.  His passion in the warmer months was working on old cars and he loved building models when it was too cold outside.  

Born in Fall River, MA on October 19, 1940, he was the youngest of eleven children born to Everett and Mary Hambly, deceased.

Ernest was married September 23, 1960, to Barbara Gladhill, who preceded him in death on October 3, 2020.

Survivors include his daughters: Tina (Brian) McLaughlin of Bear Creek, NC; Judy (John) Schutte of Tenino, WA; Carla (Keith) of Greenbrier, TN; and Kelly (Joseph) of  Kingston, OK; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren

Arrangements are being handled by Sykes Funeral Home, 424 Franklin St, Clarksville TN 37040. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 29, 2023, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm and Wednesday August 30, 2023, from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm.  The funeral service will be Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at 1:30 pm. 

Burial immediately following the service at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Clarksville TN.
