Clinton J. Chamberlain, 91 of Hopkinsville, died Tuesday October 6, 2015. At this time, no public services are planned. Sykes Funeral Home, Clarksville, is in charge of arrangements.
A native of Chicago, Mr. Chamberlain was born 9 October 1924 to Clinton G. Johnson and Olivia Langdon Chamberlain. He is survived by his wife, Shirley R. Puls, of Hopkinsville; his brother Langdon G. Johnson of Hartford CT; two sons G. Lowry Chamberlain and Paul D. Chamberlain, both of the vincinity of Seattle; and 4 daughters - Olivia Stapelman (Michael) and Helen Reed, also in the vicinity of Seattle; Nancy Moon (Charles) of Calabash, NC and Gilli Hyde of Jacksonville FL.; and 5 grandchildren, Kirsten Hyde, Kylie Hyde, David Moon, Jerry Reed, and Rebecca Stapelman. His eldest son, Langdon A. Chamberlain (of Seattle region) preceded him in death.
Mr. Chamberlain lived a full life, retiring several years ago. He was an Army Veteran serving in WWII and decorated with a Purple Heart. His MS in Mechanical Engineering served as the foundation for a career of varied interest and positions with organizations such as NASA; Boeing; and as an educator. His love of sailing led to working with marina designs in the east and mid-west. He was a member of the American Legion; AOPA; Sigma XI; and the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association). Mr. Chamberlain earned his pilots license at an early age and never lost his love for flying. Additional hobbies included gardening and listening to classical music.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Max's Hope Pet Rescue, Hopkinsville, KY , the American Diabetes Association, Alexandria VA or "Honor Flight" Clarksville, TN.
