Funeral service for Clara Hodges, age 95 of Cunningham, will be Sunday, Jan 14, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Stephen Ramsey and Brother David Mackens officiating. Burial will follow in the Gum Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, Jan 13, 2018 from 3:00PM to 7:00PM at Sykes Funeral Home and again on Sunday, Jan 14, 2018 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
Clara passed away on Monday, Jan 08, 2018. She was born on Oct 08, 1922 in Louisville, KY to Luther and Lela McWhorter. She was one of the oldest members of Gum Springs Baptist Church. She loved canning and quilting, and was known for her yard sales on Highway 13.
She is preceded in death by her husbands; Gene Grinstead and Clyde Hodges, children; Tim Grinstead, Mike Grinstead, Regina Thyssen, brothers; Cragon, Virgil, and Curtis McWhorter, and sisters, Agnes Hodges and Modene Clark. She is survived by her son, Jeff Grinstead, brothers; Joe and Wayne McWhorter, 7 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
