Christopher Schmidt

A memorial service for Christopher Scott Schmidt, 58, will be held on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at 4:00 PM at Sykes Funeral Home. Brother Phillip Chambers will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 PM until the time of service.

Chris passed away on June 19, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on October 4, 1963 in Erin, TN to Roy Schmidt and Robbie Sue Atkins Varble.

In addition to his parents, Chris is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Janice Schmidt; children: Chad (Shancy) Bumpus, Gavin (Jenn) Bumpus, and Kelsey (Anthony Carter) Schmidt; siblings: Vicky Slayton, Karen Ritter, and Kim Barnette; and grandchild, Max Bumpus.

Chris loved spending time with close friends and family. He liked to travel and the beach was his happy place. Chris spent many vacations at various beaches with his loved ones. He enjoyed gardening, hanging out at the pool, and supporting his three children in whatever sports they were into. He would even coach them while growing up. Chris loved watching his grandson, Max play and compete in various sports. He was a wonderful husband, amazing father, bonus dad, and certainly the best Pops ever. Chris was well known in the community. He worked in the Co-op system in various locations including: Montgomery, Crossroads, Dickson, Davidson, and Robertson/Cheatham for 35 years.

I want to thank all of the people at Robertson/Cheatham Co-op for their support during his illness. He had battled Brain Cancer off and on for the last 18 years. Thank you to Avalon Hospice and Ginger, Becky, Brittany, Jessica, and Kim for all of their support.
