Christine Virginia Melville, age 96 of Clarksville, TN passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014 peacefully
surrounded by loved ones at home. She was born in Palmyra, TN on October 24, 1917 to the late
Hubert Ragan and Minnie Lee McCawley.
Christine was preceded in death by her husband Jesse Smith, sisters Helen and Francis, daughter
Sandra Kanat, grandson Mark Smith, and second husband Thomas Melville.
She is survived by her beloved son Daniel Smith (Liz), grandchildren David LeCroix, Lesli DeMoss
(Greg), Kelly Kivienimi (Butch), Eric Smith (Grace), late grandson Mark's wife Janet, Anthony
Peak (Melissa), Alicia Courtier Larner and Cathy Peak, 22 Great Grandchildren, and 7 Great Great
Grandchildren.
Christine was known as Granny, and was loved by everyone who knew her. She made homes in
Garden City, MI, New Port Richey, FL and finally in Clarksville, TN. She spent so many summers in
the cabin that she and husband Jesse built on Bradford Lake in Waters, MI. Granny is now in Heaven
dancing to old time country music, and receiving requests for her famous strawberry shortcake.
Service and burial will take place later this summer in Michigan.
