Chieko Nakajima McCoig, age 80, of Clarksville, went to be with our Lord, Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at her residence. Chieko entered this life on August 16, 1932 in Kyoto, Japan, daughter to the late Hiroshi Nakajima and Kimiko Ogawa Nakajima. Being a mother was the center of Chieko's life. Her children watched and learned from her. They know where to turn for peace because of her faith and walk with Christ. In addition to being a wonderful homemaker, she also had worked as a seamstress and florist at Brides and Tender Touch Florist. Chieko was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Kenji Nakajima and her sister Yoshiko Nakajima. She is survived by her husband, Oda Clinton McCoig; her two sons, Tim (Stacy) McCoig of Georgetown, TX and Ted (Mary) McCoig of Smyrna, TN; her four daughters, Maggie (Keith) Dyer, Susan Schreiber, Norma McCoig, and Maxine (Jody) Fields, all of Clarksville, TN; grandchildren; Amy Johnson, Connie Reynolds, Becky (Maurice) Dyer-Howard, Jenny (J.G.) Vinson, Brad Schreiber, Rachel Schreiber, Tim Oda McCoig, Jr., Ian McCoig, Zack McCoig, Brooke McCoig, Emily McCoig, Adam McCoig, Daniel McCoig, Mackenzie Fields and Maggie Fields; great- grandchildren, Chloe Dyer, Toby Dyer, Alex Reynolds, Spencer Reynolds, Freedom Dyer, and Kimorah Howard.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday, August 2, 2013 at Sykes Funeral Home. Family will receive friends on Friday, August 2 from 12:00 pm until the hour of service. Burial will follow at Bethel Memorial Cemetery, Clarksville, TN. Pallbearers will be Brad Schreiber, T.J.
