Charles Mckinney

Funeral service for Charles McKinney, age 84 of Woodlawn, will be Monday, April 25, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Sykes Funeral Home . Entombment will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Sykes Funeral Home.
Charles passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Tennova Healthcare. He was born on September 23, 1931 in Adams, TN to Earl and Eula McKinney. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters. Charles proudly served in the United States Navy and retired from the United States Army. During his time of service he was awarded the Purple Heart medal, the Bronze Star Medal and several other medals and honors before retiring in 1973.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth McKinney, daughter, Betty (Michael) Richardson, son, Frank (Melissa) McKinney, sister, Ann Jones, grandchildren; Kimberly Stanford, Kerri (Billy) Mace, Johnny (Neymi) Cooper, Jason (Danielle) Cooper, and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be; Ronnie McKinney, Paul McKinney, Tommy McKinney, Tony Jones, Billy Mace, and Michael Gunnett.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
The family wants to give a special thanks to the Manor house of Dover for giving Mr. McKinney so much care, love, and kindness.
