Charles May

May 19, 1943 — September 16, 2018

Charles Leonard (Len) May, age 75, of Clarksville passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018, in Alamosa, Colorado from natural causes.

The May family will receive friends at Sykes Funeral Home on Friday, September 28, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.  A memorial service will be follow at 12:00 p.m. at Sykes Funeral Home with Pastor Terrell Marcom officiating.   Interment will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, at 2:00 p.m. with military honors.

Charles (Len) was born on May 19, 1943, in Lancaster, PA to the late Charles and Sarah May.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Janet McClarigan and brother-in-law Clyde McClarigan of Lancaster, PA.  He is survived by his wife of 51 years Sylvia Toves May; son Warren May & wife Beverly; daughter Maureen May Boles and husband Mike; four grandchildren: Katie Boles, Mason Boles, Carson Boles, and Danielle May; his sister and brother-in-law Hazel and Richard Metcalf of Cummins, GA.

Len graduated from Solano High School in 1961 in Quarryville, PA. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from Penn State University in 1965.   He went on to graduate from the Naval Officer Candidate School in Rhode Island, and earned his Master’s Degree in Business from Austin Peay State University in 1982.

Len served one tour in Vietnam.  He retired from Civil Service as Supervisory General Engineer with the Directorate of Public Works, at Fort Campbell, Ky.

He loved traveling, camping, hiking, and photography. He is a member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Association.

He attended Excell Baptist Church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Excell Baptist Church Building Fund,328 Excell Road, Clarksville, TN 37043.
