Britton Jemison (aka Pops or BJ) of 809 Howard St, Clarksville, Tennessee passed away on August 28, 2014 at the age of 58. A memorial service for will be held 11:00 am Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive from 10:00 am until the hour of service.
Britton Jemison is preceded in death by his parents, Cebell (Jones) and William Jemison, brother, Famous Jemison, and aunt and uncle, Jordan and Janell Morris who raised him as a young boy. Britton is survived by daughter Atra (Jemison) Williams, sons Dwight Jemison and Tyran Jemison, brothers: William Jemison, Thomas Jemison, Carset Jemison, Robert Lee Jemison, Sean Jemison, Alen Porter, and sisters: Jessy Jemison, Tracy Jemison, and Jujanita Jemison. Britton is also survived by his special female friend, Debra Webb who he cared for deeply.
Britton was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 7, 1955. He graduated from Kettering High School in 1974. He worked assembly for the Chrysler Corporation for over 20 years.
His hobbies included sports, cheering for his beloved Detroit Lions and Tigers, and his newly adopted team the Tennessee Volunteers. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and pushing back a cold one.
In the past few years, Britton developed a closer relationship with his heavenly father. He frequently attended Abundance Life Outreach Center in Clarksville.
Britton Jemison had an incredibly large heart. He was generous to family, friends, and sometimes even strangers. If he had a dollar, you at least had a nickel.
Britton will be deeply missed, but his family knows in their hearts he is in a better place and at peace.
