A graveside service for Bobby Ray Gilpin, age 79 of Clarksville, will be Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at 2pm at KY Veterans Cemetery West.
Bobby passed away on Sunday, Oct 25, 2015 at Gateway Medical Center. He was born on Aug 03, 1936 in Clarksville, TN to the late Raymond and Mildred Gilpin. Mr. Gilpin was an active member of the Church of God of Prophecy. He served as a specialist in the U.S. Army from 1957-1960. He was stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY and Karlsruche, Germany. He was in Ordinance Company in Germany and his specialty was operating the wrecker and the tank-heavy equipment. His fondest memory was having the privledge of moving bronze bells weighing 6 tons from a foundry to a church where Martin Luther had been a priest. In return the church invited him to a special service and dinner. After his service to the Army he was an Electronic Technician Instructor. He also worked in the "Birdcage" at Fort Campbell.
In addition to his parents Mr. Gilpin was preceded in death by a daughter Anita Marie Parrish, and one brother Billy Gilpin. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, M. Gayle Gilpin, Daughter Barbara Anne Bishop, Sisters, Nancy Humphrey, Jean Sobota, and Kathy Evans. Grandson Jesse Parrish, and Son-in-Law Kyle Parrish, Granddaughter Christine Marie Bishop, and Great-Grandsons Dylan and Hunter Terpeney.
