Funeral service for Billy Ray Bateman, age 81 of Cunningham, will be Tuesday January 12, 2016 at 2:30 pm Sykes Chapel. William Gray and Michael Koontz will officiate. Burial will follow at McWhorter Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 11, 2016 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and again on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 from 12:30 pm until the time of service at 2:30 pm.
Billy passed away on Saturday, Jan 09, 2016 at Gateway Medical Center. He was born on Jan 14, 1934 in Dickson County TN to Greene and Tena Mae Bateman. He was a member of Gum Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Bateman was retired from the Baptist ministry where he served over 50 years.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son, Doyle Bateman, brothers; John Bateman, Odell Bateman, and Roy Bateman, and sister, Darah Bateman. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Carrie Conatser Bateman, son, Jeff (Emily) Bateman, grandchildren; Chris Bateman, Josh (Kristy) Bateman, Erica (Ethan) Moss, and Bryan Bateman.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Bateman, Chris Bateman, Josh Bateman, Ethan Moss, David Harrison, and John Cornejo.
