Alan Hudson, age 71, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2016. Funeral service will be Friday, March 25, 2016 at 6:00 PM at Sykes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on March 25, 2016 from 4:00 PM until time of service. Burial will be Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 10:00 AM at The Middle TN Veterans Cemetery. He is survived by wife Karen Kay Hudson, son, Alan (Sandy) Hudson, II, daughters Kristin (Doug) Swafford, Brenda (Matt) DeSmet, and Sherry (Mike) Niblock sister Phyllis (Albert) Benoit and sister- in- law, Anna DelFanti, Nancy Fleming, he is also survived by nine grandchildren Josh, Shayna, Brandon, Nathan, Jessica, Alexandra, Jon, Jacob and Olivia, great grandson, Aiden and great granddaughter Addie, former wife Frances Hughes Boroughs. Al proudly served in the U.S. Navy, and was very passionate about his love of God and Country. He served as a coach at St. Bethlehem Little League, and travel league coach for 45 years, and his teams won 3 National Championships (1991 and 1993 Charleston Orioles) Collegiate Summer World Series, and (2003) Diamond Travelers AAU 17 and under. He coached at Martin Methodist College, Columbia State CC., Twitty City and The Shoetiques. Al was very proud of his friendship with Tim Corbin (Vanderbilt) and Ray Tanner (South Carolina), both NCAA National Championship Coaches. Al wrote a book about his life in sports titled "Life Lessons from a Baseball Coach." Tanner and Corbin both commented on Al's contribution to youth baseball in the book. An avid billiard player, Al loved many sports and competition. A parent, coach or leader of any kind, "We are put on this earth to teach life lessons to our young people." Short of being a preacher, Al felt that was his calling". Hudson loved the University of Tennessee and he proudly said he was a VFL. His dream was to see them win the National Football Championship by beating the University of Alabama. GO BIG ORANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
