Adrian Lyle Butts, 73, Clarksville, died Saturday, February 12, 2011, at Gateway Medical Center. The funeral will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Ernest Brockman and Rev. Tim Ferrell officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday and from 10:00 A.M until hour of service Tuesday at Sykes Funeral Home. Sykes Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Butts was born August 2, 1937 in Stewart County, TN. He was the son of the late Arnold Matthew Butts and Laura Lewis Butts.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alice Powers Butts, Clarksville; son, Ricky (Joy) Butts, Woodlawn; daughter, Suzan (Stewart) Gafford, Clarksville; five grandsons, Brandon Butts, Kodie Gafford, Chad Gafford, Dylan Gafford, Cody-Lee Gafford and a granddaughter, Savannah Gafford. He is also survived by two brothers, Erle (Jewel) Butts, Clarksville, Wayne (Carolyn) Butts, Fredonia, KY.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Allison, Joe Eddie Black, Andy Allison, David Butts, Chris Butts, William Butts and Steve Powers. Grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Butts was a lifelong Christian of the Methodist Faith. He retired from Trane Company after 37 years of service. He also served in the Tennessee National Guard. He was an antique car enthusiast who was awarded an honorary lifetime membership to the Memory Lane Cruisers classic car club.
