Otis Daniel Beck was born on January 26, 1946 to James and Clara Beck in Panola, Mississippi. Dan was blessed to have a second father, Mr. P.J. Britt, who helped his grandmother, MaDear, raise him in Memphis, TN. Dan graduated from Father Bertrand High School in Memphis, where he played football. Dan joined the Army, married Bobbie J. Rowell, and was blessed to become the Dad to two loving daughters: Erica and Nikole. Dan enjoyed being the eldest son and role model to his siblings when visiting or sometimes living with his parents in Chicago, Illinois. Dan was presented with the "Our Hero" award during the 2015 family reunion in Memphis.

Dan completed two tours in Vietnam. Dan received many medals, his most notable being the Bronze Star. He retired from the Army in 1991 after returning from Desert Storm deployment. Upon retirement, Dan opened the Dynamic 6 Country Club and Dynamic 6 Annex with his partners. Dan took a second job working as a Lead Bus Driver with CMCSS, and later worked evenings at the MWR Youth Services as a counselor, mentor, and driver to middle school teens.

First Sergeant Otis Dan Beck had the misfortune of being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2013, shortly after retiring from the Clarksville Montgomery County School System. Dan married Levinia McClain in 1990 and after their divorce in 2008, remained friends. Levinia became his primary Caregiver until his death at their home. We thank Tapestry Connections Caregivers for all of their support and services from 2013-2019.
